Sustainable finance, financial technology and ESG indicators
Introduction
The transition to a climate-neutral and sustainable economy by 2050 offers new opportunities for businesses and citizens across the EU.1 Many companies, including PPC S.A. (Public Power Corporation), as well as investors have already set out on the path towards sustainability, as the growing volume of sustainable investment attests. In this new reality and necessity, the Course offers trainees both theoretical and practical knowledge of sustainable finance and ESG indices. It analyses the various financing instruments, such as green bonds, green loans and sustainability-linked bonds, as well as ESG investment indices (characteristics, composition, etc.), such as the ATHEX ESG index, of which PPC S.A. is a constituent. It also examines the use of financial technology (FinTech), such as CleanTech and GreenTech, which help finance energy-efficiency projects, electric vehicles and other sustainable investments. Emphasis is placed on developing a toolkit for identifying, understanding and solving the problems faced by executives and employees of multinational companies operating in the fields of energy, renewable energy sources (RES) and fibre optics. The overall aim of the Course is to develop core skills and provide specialised knowledge in sustainable finance, so that participants can respond effectively to the constant changes in their business and working environment.
