Establishment

The Centre for Training and Lifelong Learning (KEDIVIM) of the University of Piraeus was established as an Independent Unit on the basis of the national and European institutional framework for Lifelong Learning, pursuant to the Senate decision of 29/09/2017. The Ministerial Decision establishing KEDIVIM was published in the Government Gazette, Issue B, No. 4757, dated 29 December 2017 (Government Gazette 4757/29.12.2017, Issue B).

Every activity of the University and its members relating to training, continuing education, vocational training and, in general, Lifelong Learning is carried out exclusively through KEDIVIM of the University of Piraeus and is governed by the rules set by the institutional framework, the Senate and the KEDIVIM Rules of Operation. The Centre may organise and deliver non-formal education programmes leading to the award of the corresponding certificates, as well as any type of project related to Lifelong Learning.

The Rules of Operation of the Centre define its objectives, the responsibilities of its governing bodies where these are not provided for by law, the structure of the Centre, the procedures for submitting and approving programmes and projects, the evaluation method, the infrastructure and resources of the Centre, as well as specific matters concerning the implementation of programmes and cooperation with third parties. The Rules of Operation complement the applicable financial and administrative management procedures of the Special Account for Research Funds (ELKE), in accordance with Chapter IB of Law 4957/2022 (Government Gazette A 141/21.07.2022).
