Supply Chain Management and Economics

Introduction

Supply chain management and economics are important aspects of the smooth operation and efficiency of businesses and of economic development more generally. Supply chain management refers to the coordination of the activities that contribute to the transport and transformation of raw materials into finished products, and to the effective management of the flow of goods and information throughout the supply chain. Economics, on the other hand, is concerned with the study of the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services and of the factors that affect them.

The training Course “SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT AND ECONOMICS” can be a major factor in enhancing the professional effectiveness and personal development of those working in the sector, as it provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to manage the supply chain effectively and to identify economic opportunities. It may also contribute to the development of innovative practices and technologies that improve the efficiency, value and sustainability of businesses.

The ultimate aim of the Course is to train students through asynchronous learning. More specifically, the Course aims both to improve the student’s position in the labour market and to disseminate scientific knowledge, as it covers topics relating to the planning and operation of the supply chain in businesses and organisations. Particular emphasis is placed on the strategic role of and current trends in supply chain management, on optimising service levels, on the use of quantitative methods and applications for modelling and solving complex supply chain management problems, and on the introduction and evaluation of new technologies, such as telematics and radio-frequency identification (RFID), in supply chain management.
