Corporate Banking

Introduction

The training Course “Corporate Banking” is structured into two self-contained teaching/thematic Units, lasting four and two months respectively. The Course analyses issues relating to the structure, organisation and basic functions of banks, the current institutional framework, banking activities, and the functioning of money and capital markets. The analysis also covers payment systems and banking institutions. As is well known, lending is one of the most basic and important activities of banking, as a very large part of banks’ income derives from it. At the same time, because it involves credit risk – perhaps the most significant of all banking risks – it is subject to strict banking supervision rules imposed by the Regulatory Authorities. The main objective of this Unit, therefore, is to give the reader comprehensive knowledge of the rules and framework governing lending, the financial characteristics of loans and the functioning of loan markets. Finally, an important part of the analysis concerns banking risks, their measurement and management, as well as the applicable regulatory framework.
