Training of Heads of Public Sector Departments in Financial Management

Introduction

Human resources are the cornerstone of the smooth functioning and development of local communities. The term human resources refers to the employees and the elected bodies at the various positions and levels of the public sector. Employees contribute their expertise to the design and implementation of policies and programmes, while elected officials take decisions that affect the local community. In this context, the appropriate training and development of local government human resources is essential in order to strengthen the skills and effectiveness of staff and to promote the development and progress of the local community.

The Course “TRAINING OF HEADS OF PUBLIC SECTOR DEPARTMENTS IN FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT” provides specialised knowledge and skills with the aim of producing trained staff capable of meeting the demands of local government, such as the effective management of resources, the development of policies and programmes, and dealing with challenges and emergencies. Finally, it promotes transparency, professional partnership and the enhancement of administrative capacity in local government, thereby strengthening social cohesion and the effective delivery of services to citizens.

The ultimate aim of the Course is to train trainees through asynchronous distance learning. More specifically, the Course aims both to improve the trainee’s position in the labour market and to disseminate scientific knowledge empirically, enabling them to work as an Executive in a Human Resources Development Department (staff selection, head of employee education and training), as a Career Counsellor or Mentor in work environments such as Second Chance Schools (SCS), Parents’ Schools, Career Counselling Offices (KESYP), multinationals or companies with a Human Resources Development Department, consulting and research firms, or as a Head of Personal Development and Professional Advancement of Executives and Employees.
