Intercultural and Economic Education
Introduction
In a globalised world, where interactions between different cultures and economies are inevitable, understanding, tolerance and cooperation between different communities take on particular importance. Globalisation has brought about changes in lifestyles, the economy and social relations, requiring people to be prepared to deal with the challenges and opportunities arising from this development. The Course “Intercultural and Economic Education” provides the knowledge, skills and perspectives needed to develop a dynamic and open socio-economic environment. It promotes understanding and tolerance between different communities, contributing to a harmonious and cooperative climate, and fosters multiculturalism and the use of cultural wealth, strengthening cultural diversity and the creation of a pluralistic social environment. At the same time, it prepares people for the global economy by strengthening their knowledge in the fields of international relations, trade and cooperation.
The ultimate aim of the Course is to train trainees through asynchronous distance learning, to improve their position in the labour market and to disseminate scientific knowledge empirically. More specifically, the Course aims to provide scientific support to primary and secondary school teachers on issues of Intercultural Education, particularly with regard to the integration of migrants, refugees and, more generally, pupils from culturally diverse backgrounds into the school unit and the educational process. At the same time, it contributes to training trainees and raising their awareness of issues relating to national and cultural diversity in the economy and at school, as well as to formulating the basic principles for its educational management from an intercultural perspective.
