Economics in the Application of Law
Introduction
The training course “Economics in the Application of Law” focuses on exploring the interactions between law and economics, with the aim of understanding how legal rules shape economic behaviour and, conversely, how economic principles can be used to improve the efficiency and fairness of the legal system. Through theoretical analysis and practical examples, participants will acquire the ability to incorporate economic thinking into their legal reasoning and to assess the consequences of regulatory choices.
The Course is structured into five (5) self-contained teaching units:
Teaching/Thematic Unit 1: Functioning of Markets (Duration: 56 hours / 4 ECTS) Teaching/Thematic Unit 2: Economics of Competition Law (Duration: 56 hours / 4 ECTS) Teaching/Thematic Unit 3: Business Economics (Duration: 56 hours / 4 ECTS) Teaching/Thematic Unit 4: Corporate Finance (Duration: 56 hours / 4 ECTS) Teaching/Thematic Unit 5: Organisation & Management of Law Firms (Duration: 56 hours / 4 ECTS)
The aim of the Course is to provide a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach that links legal science with economic theory. It seeks to familiarise trainees with the key concepts and methodological tools of the economic analysis of law, so that they are able to assess legal rules in terms of effectiveness, efficiency and social welfare.
